by VISHAL GAIKAR - on Dec 15th 2011 - No Comments

The only real novelty of the iPhone 4S is undoubtedly Siri. This is one of the only business case for Apple in new ad campaign for this holiday season. Google is working on its own voice assistant for Android to compete with Siri, Codename: “Majel” .

A new unverified report claims that Google is working on a similar solution with its own voice recognition assistant for Android. This would be called Majel , according Androidandme as a tribute to actress Majel Barrett Roddenberry, she had lent her voice to the Starship Enterprise’s computer on Star Trek.

More than a voice service, Majel would be a real virtual assistant. It could analyze natural language as Siri. Other clues come to confirm this rumor, Google has to redeem CleverSense, the publisher of the mobile application Alfred. A year ago, it was the company Phonetic Arts, which was acquired by Google, they specialized in speech synthesis.

In short, Majel should arrive in a few weeks. Patience.

WhatsApp for IOS becomes free

by VISHAL GAIKAR - on Oct 15th 2011 - No Comments
The arrival of iOS 5 that among all the news, came with an instant messaging application, IMessage. This application, in the end, I remembered a little inbreeding of BlackBerry Messenger, that is, only the users could enjoy this platform and, if you have friends in the world of IOS, WhatsApp could stop having sense. Thinking is not displaced, WhatsApp has decided to eliminate the only insignificant, a barrier that had in the world iOS: iOS WhatsApp becomes free.

Although WhatsApp is a very popular service, and allows communication between users of multiple platforms, IMessage was a risk for WhatsApp service since it took the same philosophy of BlackBerry Messenger: a totally integrated into the platform to which is added the special to allow communication devices without phone connection (like the iPod and iPhone without 3G modem). While 79 cents is not a very large capital, to have a free system, fully integrated in IOS was a threat that is better not to risk when you can offer, as well as other platforms, your application for free.

It focuses on interaction between users, for now only uses the Facebook video chat. IM + Video is a messaging client for iPhone that allows a Facebook account and make video calls from your phone to any online contact.

The application is not a client of Facebook because it lets you browse your profile , just access our contacts so we can call them. In itself, is the option needed to Skype to finish complement the original application.

IM + Video to iPhone is a free application and can be downloaded from now on the App Store .

Although Apple announced icloud in June , had not made mention of streaming or said a lot about iTunes, but it is now clear that the implementation of this will be ready for service launch in September .
