BlackBerry continues porting BBM on other mobile OS, since the application will soon be offered on Windows Phone and Nokia X.

BBM for Windows phone

Available for some time on iOS and Android, the application of BlackBerry, BBM, also arrives on Windows Phone and Nokia X in the coming months. The manufacturer stated at MWC, BlackBerry Messenger will be available for free on the Windows Store this summer and the Nokia Store for Nokia smartphones equipped with X presented this morning .

This version of the application should include the same functionality as the other. Particular relevance are BBM Groups which allow to discuss instantly and exchange messages and data up to 50 people, BBM Voice (voice calls free between BBM users via WiFi or Mobile Data) or BBM Channels (create or join chat channels).

It is rather a logical decision by Blackberry following that the firm has been doing lately, mainly trying to make BBM available for most of the users as possible, and therefore compete more with WhatsApp, Facebook’s latest acquisition to $19 billion. WhatsApp now has nearly 450 million users against 80 million for BBM.
